A Special Message from Pastor Bowens
God has no limits and He does great things, using ordinary people like you and I to do things that usually makes no sense to human nature. He believes in transition. He told Noah to build the Ark where there was no water (Genesis 6:8-22). He asked an innocent young woman, Mary, who had never had relations with a man to birth the Son of Man (Luke 1:26-37). He said "I need a virgin to have My Son, and, Mary once you move into this transition, you can never go back." Her words of faith, "Be it unto me" changed her life and the world forever. God is seeking those willing to go forth, no matter what the cost, because with every promise there is always a price. It may not be easy, but God is using ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Just like you! Trials and tribulations will always beseech you, but we must not look back, but look to the hills from which cometh our help, for our help comes from the Lord.

All Christians are called by God, through their baptism, to be in ministry in the world. Therefore, the term minister is appropriately used to describe any Christian who responds to God's call to reach out to the world and its people through loving acts of service. The ministers of the church are called to serve in a variety of ways.
As Laity—From its earliest days, Methodism has been a lay movement. The term laity comes from laos, which means of the people. The laity are the whole people of God, who serve as ministers witnessing to the work of God in individual lives and in the world.
As Clergy—Within the body of all Christian ministers, though, some are called to fulfill a specific ministry through the church.
We Are All Called to Minister Through our Spiritual gifts vary widely, we’re all called to and engaged in the one ministry of Jesus Christ. Some aspects of our ministry are easy and come naturally. These gifts are usually called "natural talents." Other gifts are difficult to discern and/or cultivate, involving long hours, tough work, perhaps conflict and/or with disappointing results. But it's the memory of Jesus' life of service that inspires us to minister. It is the assurance of God's grace and mercy that continues to fuel our journey. And it is the promises of God's return that puts us into action to live His divine Word, Law and Commandments and to spread them wherever we go.
Where does your ministry happen?
For those who are in tune to the needs of others, each day is full of opportunities to serve. We minister to our families, our co-workers, our friends, and yes...to complete strangers! A loving word, an encouraging gesture, a touch of warmth and other acts of kindness are just the beginning. We sacrifice of ourselves to be an example to others and sometimes be the only Jesus people will ever see, hear or feel. There are so many moments that can be a precious opportunity to be a light in dark places.
At Jackson Chapel we emphasize being a good steward in the Lord, welcoming, inviting and loving all who enter our doors (and come in contact with us outside the doors). Our leadership reflects these traits through the teachings and example of Christ.
