Fundamental Truths explain our theology and are a statement of our faith – they are powerful, non-negotiable and guide all we say and do.  They can be summarized as follows:

The Bible:  We believe the Bible, as originally given, to be without error, the fully inspired and infallible Word of God and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The Trinity:  We believe that God exists co-equally and co-eternally in the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and that these three are one God, sovereign in creation, providence and redemption.

The Savior:  We believe in the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His real and complete humanity, in His sinless life, in His authoritative teaching, in His substitution and atoning sacrifice through His blood shed, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His heavenly intercession and His second advent to receive His Church.

The Holy Spirit:  We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son and the necessity of His work in conviction of sin, repentance, regeneration and sanctification, and that the believer is also promised an amendment of power as the gift of Christ through the baptism in the Holy Spirit with signs following.  Through this amendment the believer is empowered for fuller participation in the ministry of the Church, its worship, evangelism and service.

Mankind:  We believe in the universal sinfulness of all men since the Fall, rendering man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

Salvation:  We believe in the necessity for salvation of repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by which the sinner is pardoned and accepted as righteous in God’s sight. This justification is imputed by the grace of God because of the atoning work of Christ, is received by faith alone and is evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit and a holy life.

The Church:  We believe in the spiritual unity and the priesthood of all believers in Christ and that these comprise the universal Church, the Body of Christ.

The Ministry:  We believe in the ministries that Christ has set in His Church, namely, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers and in the present operation of the manifold Gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the New Testament.

The Ordinances:  We believe in the baptism of believers in water in obedience to the command of Christ and the commemoration of Christ’s death by the observance of the Lord’s Supper until His return.

The Commission:  We believe that the Gospel embraces the needs of the whole man and that the Church is therefore commissioned to preach the Gospel to the world and to fulfill a ministry of healing and deliverance to the spiritual and physical needs of mankind.

The Coming King:  We believe in the personal, physical and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory.  Advent Season is celebrated to honor the Lord's second coming.
The Future State:  We believe in the resurrection of the dead and in the final judgement of the world, the eternal conscious bliss of the righteous and the eternal conscious punishment of the wicked.

Praise and Worship:  We are determined to create an environment of praise and worship.  It is our charge to be vessels of worship at all times.  If we do not praise Him, God said he would make the rocks cry out.  So as His children, it is our purpose to praise Him and bless the Lord at all times!  We praise him mightily, we worship Him constantly, We honor Him always!

There are two kinds of believing, and both are essential for Christian life. They’re closely related and influence each other, but they’re different. One is belief and the other, beliefs. One is faith and the other, doctrine or theology.

Faith:

Faith is the basic commitment of our lives, the heart and soul of a Christians being.  Faith is foundation for living God's Will as revealed in and through Jesus Christ.  It’s a conscious attitude and the basis for trusting and relying on God as the creative source and destiny of our lives.  Faith is not only believing in God, but giving God our devoted loyalty and allegiance.  Faith is also following Jesus, answering the call to be the disciples in the world.  Faith is trusting God’s future, believing the coming kingdom that God has promised.  Faith involves trusting, believing, following, and of course hoping.

Theology:

Theology or doctrine is more a matter of the knowledge.  It’s the thinking of believers about faith and discipleship, and reflecting on the gospel.  It’s examining the beliefs we hold as a church and the body of Christ.  Theology is not only for professional theologians, pastors and ministry, but for all of us, to guide our day-by-day actions, so  we can communicate our belief to an unbelieving world.  It's the knowledge to answer questions, enlighten, encourage and celebrate Christian lift.  Theology is the practice of studying and knowing the Bible and the teachings of the Trinity.

Our Beliefs:

The United Methodist Church is an 11-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens doors and opens minds through active engagement with our world.  John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.

Faith:

At Jackson Chapel UMC, Faith is the basis of our living.  It's the very foundation in our beliefs and our complete devotion to God's Promises.

Hope:

Hope fuels the foundation of Faith.  It is the belief in the unseen and hope for those things.  It is the our complete praise of God's Word.

Love:

The greatest of these is Love, as told in the Holy Scriptures.
Love is our eternal charge, given by God's Law and symbolized by Jesus' sacrifice.  We are commanded to Love God and our Neighbor and to spread it as a virus amongst man.  Love is our infectious contribution to one another and our commitment to God's love for us.
